RCSI Research Day 2025

The annual RCSI Research Day was recently held at the St. Stephen’s Green campus. Research Day highlights the best of RCSI research, and provides opportunities for discussion and collaboration between researchers. Joanne, Louise, and Noémie had posters presenting their research, while Julie gave an engaging talk focused on her project investigating the impact of bacteria on peristomal skin complications, supported by Research Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and our industry collaborator Hollister.
The highlight of the day was the John J. Ryan lecture which was given by Prof. David Mooney from the Wyss Institute at Harvard University. Prof. Mooney is a leader in the fields of biomaterials, mechanotransduction, drug delivery, tissue engineering and immunoengineering, and gave a fascinating talk detailing the impact of material properties like stress-relaxation on cell growth, differentiation and behaviour. Furthermore, the capacity to harness fundamental material science to develop surgical glues and to enhance the effectiveness of immunotherapies was discussed.
